Air Fryer Frozen Hamburgers

Juicy, browned frozen burger patties cooked straight from the freezer in the air fryer — no thawing required, ready in about 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 frozen hamburger patties (1/4 lb to 1/3 lb each — store-bought or homemade frozen)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Garlic powder (optional, 1/4 tsp per patty)
  • Oil spray (optional)
  • 4 burger buns
  • Cheese slices, lettuce, tomato, onion, and condiments, as desired

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes before adding patties.
  2. Place frozen patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer with at least 1/2 inch of space between each. Do not stack or thaw. Season the top surface with salt, pepper, and garlic powder if desired.
  3. Air fry at 375°F for 7–8 minutes on the first side, then flip with tongs and season the second side.
  4. Continue cooking: 5–7 more minutes for 1/4 lb patties, or 6–8 more minutes for 1/3 lb patties, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) on an instant-read thermometer.
  5. Once patties reach 155°F, place a cheese slice on each and air fry 1–2 more minutes until melted.
  6. Transfer patties to a plate and rest for 2 minutes. Optional: toast buns cut-side down in the air fryer at 350°F for 2 minutes, then assemble and serve.

Notes

Always use an instant-read thermometer — ground beef must reach 160°F internally per USDA guidelines. Do not rely on color alone.

Do not thaw patties before cooking. Starting from frozen produces a better sear and juicier result than thawed patties.

Keep patties in a single layer with space between them. If your basket is small, cook in two batches.

Line the basket with perforated parchment paper for easier cleanup — avoid solid foil as it blocks airflow.
