Air Fryer Carrots

Crispy, caramelized carrot sticks made in the air fryer with garlic powder and smoked paprika. Ready in under 20 minutes with just one tablespoon of oil.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) fresh carrots, washed and peeled
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel, and cut carrots into uniform sticks approximately ¼ inch (6 mm) thick and 3–4 inches (8–10 cm) long. Uniform size ensures even cooking.
  2. Place carrot sticks in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with oil, then add garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss until every piece is fully coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. Arrange carrot sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not stack or overlap — cook in batches if necessary.
  5. Air fry at 400°F for 10–14 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the carrots halfway through at the 5–7 minute mark.
  6. Carrots are done when edges are golden and slightly caramelized and a fork slides in easily at the thickest point.
  7. Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Cut carrots to uniform thickness for even cooking — thinner sticks finish closer to 10 minutes, thicker coins or baby carrots may need up to 14–15 minutes.

Do not crowd the basket; overlapping traps steam and prevents crispy edges. Cook in batches if needed.

Preheat the air fryer for 3 minutes before adding carrots to ensure proper caramelization from the start.
